Sunday Flower Market
I haven't blogged for almost five months, so much has happened in that amount of time. I'll speak about it next week.
Since the beginning of autumn, I've been waking up early (6:30am) on Sundays to go to the flower market. The first time I woke up, I was pretty excited as I'm obsessed with flowers, it's my favourite things and most people who know me, know this. I'd heard so much about the flower market, I thought I'd go and see what all the fuss was about. I was determined to get red hydrangeas but due to the change of season, I had to settle for a slightly more darker colour.
Visiting the flower market which started of weekly and has now changed to bi-weekly, I'm hoping to explore in my choice of flowers, colour and texture rather than settling for the common flowers. As the flower market isn't a huge market i.e the length of Portobello Road, it easy to make quick decisions especially at 8am in the morning.
There is a hidden story behind why I go to the flower market but, I'll share that with you another time. At present, the main focus of my flower visits is to slowly get back into drawing flowers. Both still life, museum visits and from reference books which I've been collecting. I'm hoping to experiment with different art material, such as, watercolour, ink, gouache and pencils. Which I'm hoping to start this year.
