Away from London
Last weekend I travelled to Bournemouth for the day to attend a workshop, the workshop was to reupholstery a piece of furniture for the home. For as long as I can remember ,I've always wanted to work with footstools. Growing up, every time I went to my Grandma's house, I'd always see two redone footstool in my Grandma's living room. These amazing footstools were done by my aunt, from then, I developed an interest in upholstery which at the time was something I'd say i'll do in years to come. Fast forward to today and here I am now.
A few months before my workshop I spent days on the internet to see where I'm able to buy a footstool in whatever condition, I found one on eBay for under £20 hooray!
I came across this workshop by paying a visit to Waterstones bookstore in search of upholstery books, I found Vicky Grubb book displayed on the shelf, front facing waiting for me to purchase. I then found Vicky on instagram which led me to her website where I found the workshop.
I really enjoyed the workshop and out of all the people that had attended, I was the only one who left with a finished piece of furniture, which is something I'm quite proud of, especially as this was my first time doing upholstery. In the next few months, I'm hoping to find more footstools that I can work on.
